Redline Compare

Compare two PDFs in Chrome and nothing leaves your browser. You get a visual redline side by side, text and report views, a numbered change list with reviewed ticks, search, and recent comparisons. Comparison-PDF reports and a version library are coming next.

Install (unpacked)

  1. chrome://extensions → turn on Developer mode.
  2. Load unpacked → pick this folder.
  3. Click the toolbar icon to open Redline Compare in a tab.

Develop

npm install
npm test
npm run check:load-order
npm run smoke # headless browser checks (needs Microsoft Edge or BROWSER_PATH)

See CLAUDE.md for architecture, conventions and status, and docs/superpowers/specs/ for the design.

Sibling projects: Redline PDF (annotate + compare, the source of the forked diff engine) and Redline Excel (the layout this tool follows).
